Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:
Not since the famous movie scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller, “Psycho,” have showers generated so much excitement.
At the 2007 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show and Conference in Las Vegas, a major trade show sponsored by the National Kitchen and Bath Association, bath products manufacturers introduced the latest contemporary showerheads that offer much more than the traditional water spray.
Michael Wandschneider, senior product manager for performance showering for Kohler Co., says that for many homeowners, showering has become “a time-efficient luxury that is anything but routine.” Custom showers can run from $1,500 for basic components and plumbing work to elaborate multimedia systems costing up to $10,000.
The top-of-the-line system that Wandschneider calls the ultimate shower experience is Kohler’s new DTV II system which the company launched at the trade show. Read more.

Dexigner:
Having worked with Aqualisa’s research and technology teams to design the world’s first digital shower (Quartz), as well as its sophisticated successor (Axis), Seymourpowell have now designed the next step in the evolution of the digital shower for long-term client and digital market pioneer Aqualisa.
Available to customers from Autumn 2007, the ilux Digital allows perfect pre-sets of both temperature and water flow for up to four people from a single controller.
The technology is not only applicable to showers this time around, but also to baths.
ilux Digital will join Aqualisa’s best-selling and award-winning Quartz and Axis systems in Aqualisa’s digital range, demonstrating the same commitments to consumer- focused benefits, quality and flexibility.
As with all Aqualisa’s digital products, the success of ilux will also depend in large part on the popularity of this technology with installers, who were the first to seize on the benefits of ease of installation and the radical shortening of installation time, compared to non-digital showers.
It will be available to customers from Autumn 2007.

BoingBoing:
Cartoonist Lars Martinson reminisces over a a shower he had to use in Japan. It sounds like something out of a bad dream.
It was an imposing metal unit, and its operation required the use of five different cranks and knobs. That evening my girlfriend provided the necessary explanation:
“Turn this knob to start the gas. Then turn that knob to “high”, and then push and turn this knob, and hold it down. While holding it down, turn this crank. [*click, click, click*] Okay, look in the little window. Can you see the blue flame?”
I looked in the window: “No.”
“You need to get the angle right. Look again.”
I scrutinized the inside of the metal box from every possible angle, but still didn’t see it. Wait. There’s something, but it looks more like a reflection from somewhere, or a dying ghost. “You mean this little thing?” Read on…

Feel that nip in the air?
That means it’s time for more moisturization.
I’ve been trying this Olay Body In-Shower Body Lotion and I have to say that I really like it.
I use it on the days that I’m too tired to really spend time moisturizing and I can slick this on, rinse it off, and end up with soft skin…

Voltimum:
Shower specialists Redring are launching a thermostatic shower and suction pump package. The Selectronic Level Access Pump has been engineered to meet rapidly growing demand for wet rooms and care sector installations where level shower access is required and gravity drainage not possible.
Designed and manufactured at Redring’s Peterborough factory, the Selectronic Level Access Pump (LAP) is the only shower to fully meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act. However, it also affords both householders and care sector professionals complete flexibility in where to site the shower unit within any home or building.
The Selectronic thermostatic shower and level access pump is supplied as a complete system, in one box, using just one part number for both the shower and the pump. The pump contains a diaphragm – not a conventional impeller – to ensure there are no blockages or reduction in performance.
The Redring Selectronic LAP electric shower controls the pump directly; making life simpler for installers by removing the need to fit a flow switch or any associated wiring.
Available in two kilowatt ratings 8.5kw and 9.5kw the complete package is compatible with a shower drain kit, tray and wet floor models, to suit the most stylish wet-room or highly equipped care application.
