As the leaves change and the weather turns chillier, another annual event takes place we cannot avoid the fall cold. For many who seem to be susceptible to such viruses, it’s as much a part of the changing of seasons as turning on the heat and bringing out your winter clothes.
This year’s cold was a particularly nasty one for me. It’s going on two weeks and my sniffles are still in full force. Since I don’t take any cold medicine, I’m always on the lookout for ways to feel better and relieve some of the symptoms in a natural and safe way. I’ve found a number of cosmetic and bath products to make the whole process a bit more comfortable.
When you’re all stuffed up, a nice way to warm up and de-stuff is by taking a hot bath or shower. Mixing some additives into your bath or shower can help clear your sinuses (briefly) and give you some relief.
For the tub, you can add ten or 15 drops of eucalyptus essential oil to warm water. The eucalyptus and steam helps open the sinuses and refresh your stuffed head. Tea tree oil also has the same effect, but I find the scent of eucalyptus oil is more soothing when you’re sick.
